Is Red Light Area Legal in Las Vegas?

Las Vegas is a place filled with neon lights, loud music, and people having a good time. Even though it is a fun place to go to, some people get injured on the strip because they were too nervous, unaware of what they were doing, or did not have the proper knowledge and/or courtesy to observe proper safety practices when walking or driving on the streets near their hotels. When walking through the Las Vegas strip, it is easy to become distracted by all of the neon lights and flashy people-especially women. If you are walking on the sidewalk, or any other public street near a hotel or any other tourist attractions, and happen to be in a red-light zone, then you should pay attention to what you are doing and keep to the left or right of the road. Otherwise, you run the risk of getting hit by a car that was traveling the wrong way!

Unfortunately, not all drivers abide by the red light area legal requirements. A lot of drivers don’t know that they are required to give plenty of space between the car ahead and you, so that you can safely enter the intersection. If you don’t give enough space, you run the risk of being hit from behind, or worse, getting run over from a passing vehicle. If you see a car coming from the left side going toward you at an extremely high rate of speed, then be prepared to swerve away from it. Of course, it may take a couple of steps to get out of range of the car in front of you, but as long as you stay out of its blind spot, you should be fine.

While you are legally required to give enough space between you and the car in front of you, don’t expect the car in front of you to follow this same courtesy. Be sure to always watch out for red light runners. If you have a fear of being run over by a vehicle, then you should avoid intersections at all costs, even if it means running a red light. You never know when you might need that extra space to avoid getting hit from behind.
